Docktap
A native Android app for managing Docker hosts remotely; containers, images, logs, and live stats, without touching a terminal.

Docktap is a mobile-first Docker management client built with Expo and React Native. It connects directly to a Docker host's remote API and gives you dashboard, container, and image management from your phone — no SSH session, no desktop required.
Why build this
Most Docker tooling assumes you're at a terminal. Docktap is for the moments you're not — checking on a container that crashed overnight, restarting a service from your phone, or watching logs stream in real time without opening a laptop.
What it does
- Live dashboard with container and image overviews, auto-refreshing with app-state-aware polling
- Full container detail view — Overview, Logs, Network, Volumes, and raw Inspect output across five tabs
- Image management with pull-progress tracking, showing live layer-by-layer download status
- Configurable Docker API version and poll interval, so it adapts to different host setups rather than assuming one Docker version
- Secure local storage of connection credentials via Expo SecureStore
Built for real conditions, not just the happy path
A lot of the actual engineering here went into resilience: a disconnected Docker host shows a clear retry banner instead of a frozen UI, live stats hold their last known value instead of flashing to placeholder dashes on a failed poll, and background tabs pause their polling instead of burning battery and bandwidth when you're not looking at them.
Stack
Expo SDK 56, Expo Router, and TypeScript, talking directly to the Docker Engine API. No cloud backend — Docktap connects straight to your host, so your containers and data never leave your own infrastructure.
